The events of Station 19 season 7, episode 3 furthered storylines the firefighting drama had left dormant for entire seasons in some instances, finally providing closure to some characters and bringing back a painful past for others. The Winter Pride elicited very strong feelings for some of the Station 19 firefighters and what it meant for their history, while others had to navigate life-changing developments entirely disconnected from the episode’s main event. Like any other call, the Winter Pride guaranteed painful drama, high-stakes revelations, potentially life-threatening occurrences and plenty of action in Station 19 season 7, episode 3, “True Colors.”
Andy continued to comfortably settle in her role as captain, and her pinning ceremony brought back the tradition of new captains being welcomed by their firefighters’ pranks, with the tribulations of Station 19 season 7, episode 3 giving her the chance to display her leadership skills. Travis’s problems with his father and faithfulness, along with Maya’s parenthood fears and unexpected reunions with people from her past, all contributed to their storylines being front and center in the episode. Finally, an order from Mayor Osman to Chief Ross unveiled the sinister reasons for keeping her, revealing his dark intentions.

Jack’s final dinner at the firehouse celebrated his career and his belonging to Station 19, but it also embodied a Grey’s Anatomy universe tradition.
10 Beckett’s Cooperation With Andy Captain Truly Shows How Much He Improved
Beckett Finally Returning To The Firehouse Redeems His Season 6 Behavior
Although Station 19 season 7, episode 2 welcomed back Sean Beckett after his time in rehab, episode 3 finally reintroduced him back to work. His exchange with Andy highlighted the differences that were always noticeable between him and the rest of the firehouse. However, it also showed how much Beckett had improved, fully accepting Andy as his captain and bearing no ill will despite her leading a mutiny against him on a call before he decided to go to rehab.
Even if Beckett wasn’t part of the main team in Station 19 season 7, episode 3, his contribution showed how much he had changed, not subjecting his patient to snarky remarks or judgment, instead connecting with him over their mistakes. Beckett’s interactions with fellow firefighters and community members alike showed what he could have been in Station 19 season 6 had he not dealt with addiction at the time, showing that the new version of him could finally be a positive and well-accepted part of the firehouse.
9 Miranda Helping Carina Shows How The Station 19 Family Includes More Than Firefighters
They Would’ve Just Been Coworkers If It Weren’t For Station 19
Station 19 often highlighted how much the firehouse was a second family for every firefighter, for the time they spent there and the peculiar bonds they formed. This was visible in the requests they made each other like Dean asking Ben to be Pru’s father if anything happened to him, and in the fact they often spent time together outside of work. Station 19 season 7, episode 3 showed how the firehouse’s approach rubbed off on those closest to the firefighters, as Miranda would have never been that involved in Carina’s family life without their connection through Ben and Maya.
Miranda and Carina already knew each other because they worked at Grey Sloan Memorial together, but their closer bond was only made possible because Maya was part of Ben’s second family at work. They started their joint venture with the reproductive clinic because their beliefs aligned, and Miranda’s help with Liam on hers and Carina’s days off proved invaluable and what Carina needed when she couldn’t count on Maya’s presence. Ben and Miranda were always seen as parent figures by Station 19’s firefighters, and this idea was clearly shared by others, or Carina would have asked someone else for help.
8 Andy’s Pinning Ceremony Cemented The True Start Of Her Captaincy
Station 19 Season 7 Has Slowly But Steadily Shown How Good Andy Is As Captain
Andy’s appointment as captain of Station 19 wouldn’t need to forge a new type of camaraderie, as she was always considered the one worthy of being the captain of that firehouse, for her skills and history. However, the pinning ceremony playfully and officially marked the start of her captaincy, as it was something that was always done for previous captains and interim captains, providing continuity and tradition amid changes, even if everyone expected and wished for Andy to become captain.

What Station 19 Ending Means For The Grey’s Anatomy Universe
Grey’s Anatomy spinoff Station 19 is set to end after its upcoming seventh season, removing it from and changing the Grey’s universe as we know it.
Station 19 season 7, episode 3 also continued to show how much Andy was ready for and worthy of her new role, and it was exemplified by her reaction to the pranks, but even more by her tendency to be upfront with any of the personnel who could have had an issue with her being captain. Andy’s directness, even-mindedness and willingness to do her best to support her team in any way she could was visible through every choice she made, thus showing Chief Ross made the right choice by choosing Andy as captain when she did.
7 Maya & Carina’s New Life Might Rearrange Maya’s Priorities Definitely
Having To Cope With A New Kind Of Fear & Guilt Can Pull Maya Away From The Firehouse
The fear of becoming parents while being firefighters was already faced by Dean and Ben when it was their turn, thus making Maya’s preoccupation not new. However, Maya’s situation is made more peculiar by her past wishes to do anything she could to progress in her career, opposing motherhood at the time because she wanted to become fire chief eventually. Maya’s problems in Station 19 season 6 nevertheless shifted her perspective when they reminded her what she cherished the most was her relationship with Carina.
Maya’s refusal to propose herself as potential captain in Station 19 season 6 already showed she was serious in her shift of priorities, but having Liam and feeling guilty to have left Carina alone with him depicted a further removal from progressing her career. Considering Maya’s attachment to firefighting and Station 19, she will unlikely leave firefighting altogether. However, her change in priorities might still make Maya’s lack of interest in progressing her career more permanent, especially considering how she was often unable to handle negative emotions with consistency.
6 Mayor Osman’s Orders To Chief Ross Show His True Colors
Osman Confirmed Chief Ross So That He Could Control Her Easily
While Station 19 season 6’s ending left Chief Ross’s fate hanging, season 7’s premiere revealed that the newly-elected mayor chose to keep Natasha as fire chief, although his choices seemed more calculated than a ringing endorsement of what Chief Ross stood for. Station 19 season 7, episode 3 finally revealed why Osman chose to keep her as chief, and it had less to do with his image suffering a blow if he fired her for the scandal after she almost died in the ballroom floor collapse and more to do with the scandal offering him the upper hand.
Osman indubitably showed his support to some of Chief Ross’s ideas, but when substantial things like the budget came up, Osman showed no willingness to compromise, even resorting to threatening Chief Ross to fire her if she didn’t reduce the budget by ten percent. Believing that keeping her as Fire Chief would have gotten him a yes-woman revealed he didn’t know much about Natasha, but while for the time being Osman essentially put Chief Ross between a rock and a hard place, that can change were she to find more allies among firefighter ranks.
5 Maya Finding Mason Can Finally Provide Closure To Her Family’s Story
Finding Him Among The Protesters Complicates Things But Brings Him Back Into Her Life
Maya had lost contact with her brother Mason seasons before, making their Station 19 season 7, episode 3 reunion crucial, especially considering how she had some kind of closure when she told her parents she was marrying Carina in Station 19 season 4’s finale. While her relationship with her father was evidently fraught, not knowing what had happened to Mason left an important puzzle unsolved, as Mason and Maya were relatively close when suffering through their father’s abuse.
Meeting Mason again at the Winter Pride and finding him among the protesters against it complicated things because it made Maya aware that Mason opposed everything she believed and who she was, but it also showed her he was certainly alive. Were Maya to use this new bit of information to find him, she could finally work through what they faced during their childhood with Mason, just like her mother did with her in Station 19 season 5 when she left Maya’s abusive father before returning with him during the pandemic.
4 Theo’s Feelings For Vic Cannot Be Ignored Even As Vic Seemingly Moved On
Breaking Up In Station 19 Season 6’s Finale Was Fueled By His Captaincy Problems
Theo’s reaction to Kate’s joke and Vic’s answers in Station 19 season 7, episode 1 already suggested something was odd about his and Vic’s breakup and subsequent hook up with Kate. However, meeting Sienna, Erica and Jazzy in Station 19 season 7, episode 3 finally revealed it was because Theo was still hung up on Vic well after their breakup. Theo never voiced any wish to get back together, but his near-constant awe at anything Vic did betrayed his feelings.

Why Station 19 Is Ending With Season 7
It was recently announced that the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff, Station 19, would be ending after season 7, but why exactly is the show being canceled?
Theo and Vic’s problems in Station 19 season 6 didn’t stem from their being on different paths, instead coming from Theo’s dismissal of Vic’s psychology studies and his problems with handling the stress of being interim captain. Even their breakup in the Station 19 season 6 finale was prompted by their exasperation of having to go through yet another senseless fight rather than an absence of love, making an impulsive sentence turn into a breakup. The feelings seemingly never disappeared for Theo, but unless he voices them in Station 19 season 7, he can’t know whether Vic reciprocates them.
3 Eli & Travis Breaking Up Can Mean Something Good For Travis If He Works On Himself
Travis Needs To Face His Problems Before He Can Date Eli Or Emmett
Travis coming clean about hooking up with Emmett after begrudgingly meeting his father and his new boyfriend showed that Travis didn’t confess the betrayal because he thought it was the right thing to do, but because he willingly sabotaged the relationship as Eli suggested. Travis’s unease with the Winter Pride and his father embracing his queerness was evident to all those present including Eli, and while Eli’s words might have been forceful, they still hit the mark.
Although Travis’s actions and Eli’s words marked the end of their relationship, it can still mean something good for Travis, especially after he sabotaged one way or another all of his relationships after Michael. Travis can’t after all avoid what both Eli and Vic believe and voiced, and while it might be painful to face those feelings, dealing with them can only let him grow and make him feel better in the end, by himself and in future relationships.
Theo’s Ability To Work Within Station 19’s Team Speaks Highly Of Him
While Station 19 season 6 was characterized by Theo’s conflicting behavior both when he complained about Beckett and when he was interim captain, season 7 showed him fully accepting having lost the captaincy to Andy. It’s unclear whether Theo’s measured reaction was a result of everything that happened at Firefighter Ball or the demotion from interim captain back to lieutenant, but his behavior in Station 19 season 7 was more similar to the Theo that originally moved to Station 19.
Theo’s newfound composure and his great job as a lieutenant in Station 19 season 7 make him worthy of Chief Ross’s praise, even if she focused her praise on his work as interim captain. Still, Ross acknowledging his leadership skills also hinted at a possible definitive promotion in his future, and his supportive attitude after losing to Andy only increased his chances of becoming the next captain among the lieutenants at Station 19, which would nonetheless separate him from his firehouse family.
1 Travis’s Father Finally Apologizing To Him Can Help Travis Heal
Acknowledging How Much His Behavior Hurt Travis Is A First Step For Travis & Their Bond
Station 19 season 7, episode 3 proved a heavy episode for Travis with the breakup and accepting to meet his father’s new boyfriend. However, it also gave him something he always craved ever since his story about his coming out not being accepted by his father was revealed. Meshing together Travis’s hesitancy to enjoy the Winter Pride with having to see his father embrace his freedom and happiness somewhat short-circuited Travis, but it also made his issues unavoidable.
Paul seeing firsthand what he caused by not accepting Travis when he came out to him because of his shame, and seeing it still affected Travis’s life years after all that happened finally prompted his apology. While that doesn’t cancel the work Travis still has to do on himself, it’s a first step that finally lets Travis feel Paul’s acceptance, and the pride he felt for him even if he couldn’t express it before. This way, Paul giving him the apology he always craved makes Station 19 season 7, episode 3 finally let Travis turn over a new leaf.
