Amazon’s streaming service Prime Video boasts a large selection of movies and TV shows in its library available to subscribers, but much of that content is temporary, with a number of titles leaving each month. With the large backing from Amazon, Prime Video has emerged as one of the biggest streaming services around, offering a giant catalog of previously released movies and shows while also developing acclaimed original content. However, Prime Video’s offerings disappear on a monthly basis on purpose, planned through contracts with film and television distributors.
March 2024 didn’t see too many big titles being removed from the streaming platform. Prime Video users lost the movie remake of Baywatch on March 1, the classic paranoid thriller Marathon Man on March 4, and the investigative journalism drama She Said on March 5. April 2024 also features a small number of titles being removed, but there are some very notable titles including star-studded ensembles, franchise entries, and entire critically acclaimed series. Users can check out every departing title and how long they have to catch them before they are gone.

The Best Movies And TV Shows Leaving Prime Video April 2024
Monk (2002-2009)
The mystery series Monk will be departing Prime Video at the beginning of April which is bad news for fans hoping to binge the critically acclaimed show. Monk stars Tony Shalhoub as a brilliant yet eccentric private detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder who helps out the local police investigating various murderers. The show follows the case-of-the-week format with Monk tackling a new case each week, providing big laughs and some clever detective work.
This comes after the show was recently added at the end of December 2023.
All eight seasons of the show will be removed from Prime Video on April 1 which comes after the show was recently added at the end of December 2023. It is a shame Prime Video users did not get more time with the show as there is renewed interest in a Monk revival following the movie Monk’s Last Case. Hopefully, the show will land somewhere else where viewers can find it.
Stanley Tucci, Alfred Molina, and
Seinfeld
star Michael Richards were all considered for the role of Monk before Tony Shalhoub was cast.

House Of Gucci (2021)
The true-crime story of the rise and fall of the Gucci empire will be leaving Prime Video on April 1. Ridley Scott directs House of Gucci with an all-star cast that includes Adam Driver, Lady Gaga, Jared Leto, and Al Pacino. The story follows the family that helped to build Gucci into a renowned and celebrated name in the fashion world, only for it to fall apart due to betrayals, scandals, and murder.
The movie is a fun over-the-top melodrama with the cast playing to the outrageous tone. It is the ensemble that makes it such an entertaining ride. The epic saga of the family is also gripping, especially for those not familiar with the eccentric real-life characters and their fates. Though not quite the critically acclaimed movie many were expecting, Lady Gaga and Jared Leto each scored several acting nominations for their performances.

Sonic The Hedgehog (2020)
The first movie in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise will be leaving Prime Video on April 1. Sonic the Hedgehog brings to life the beloved video game character in the story of the super-fast critter who befriends a small-town police officer while on the run from an evil scientist who is looking to experiment on him.
This is a terrific family-friendly action movie with some inventive set pieces and lighthearted humor. Sonic makes for a fun hero and it is exciting to see the iconic character brought into the live-action world for the first time. However, Jim Carrey is the real star of the show, giving another powerhouse comedic performance as the villainous Dr. Robotnik. With the fun energy and memorable villain, Sonic the Hedgehog earned a reputation as one of the rare video game movie adaptations that actually worked.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3
hits theaters in December 2024.
Four Lions (2010)
April 2 marks the final day for the bold dark comedy Four Lions. The movie takes a satirical look at one of the heaviest subject matters in modern times with a comedy revolving around would-be terrorists. Four Lions served as an early breakout role of Oscar nominee Riz Ahmed who stars as a man who, along with his friends, strives to become suicide bombers to carry out their jihadist beliefs.
Despite the subject matter, the movie is able to be laugh-out-loud funny and poignant in this look at a very serious subject. Much like the Charlie Chaplin film The Great Dictator used humor against Adolf Hitler and his Nazi regime, Four Lions is a biting takedown of these terrorist methods while also satirizing the government’s tactics in dealing with them. It is an ambitious comedy and one that Prime Video users should seek out while they can.
Narc (2003)
Joe Carahan’s gritty directorial debut leaves Prime Video on April 3. Narc is a dark crime story about a disgraced and traumatized police detective (Jason Patric) who comes back to the job to investigate the murder of a fellow cop. He is partnered for the cop with the deceased cop’s best friend (Ray Liotta), a detective known for brutal tactics. Together, they delve deeper into the underbelly of Detroit while learning that the murder is not as it seems.
It also features Liotta’s career-best performance as a vicious and violent man with motivations of his own.
From the chaotic and brutal opening moments of the movie, Narc sets itself apart from other crime thrillers with its grimy and bleak tone. It also features Liotta’s career-best performance as a vicious and violent man with motivations of his own. The little-seen movie deserves to find a wider audience as one of the best crime movies of the 2000s.
